Western National Insurance Group Introduces Employment Practices Liability Coverage

Western National Insurance Group today announced it is adding Employment Practices Liability (EPL) coverage to eligible commercial policies, making it easier and affordable for employers to protect themselves against these increasingly prevalent claims.

“For many years, Employment Practices Liability coverage has been a higher-priced option available only to larger businesses,” said David Eide, executive vice president of marketing and underwriting operations.  “Today, with statistics showing that more than half of discrimination, sexual harassment, and wrongful termination claims are brought against smaller firms, EPL coverage is a practical necessity for nearly every business.  This new EPL offering from Western National provides broad coverage and is specially priced to meet the needs of our smaller commercial policyholders.”

The EPL program, which is effective for new and renewal business on July 1, 2009, includes flexible coverage options with liability limits starting at $100,000.  The program also provides a variety of online loss control resources, expert EPL claim specialists, and access to experienced employment liability attorneys.

Western National Insurance Group, headquartered in Edina, Minn., is a super-regional property-and-casualty insurance group writing over $245 million in Direct Premium in nine states.  The group consists of three companies (Western National Mutual Insurance Company, Western National Assurance Company, and Pioneer Specialty Insurance Company) serving personal and commercial customers in Minnesota, Nevada, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, and Wisconsin, as well as commercial customers in Iowa and North Dakota.  All of the group’s products are sold exclusively through professional independent agents.
