Western National Insurance – Minnesota Auto Program Changes

Western National is making the following changes to our Auto and Home programs. Details on these changes follow below.

New Business Eligibility Change for Signature Auto

Effective September 1, 2024, new business eligibility for Signature Auto includes new restrictions on accidents or claims. The Signature Auto Program includes our Penalty-Free Promise. That means that we never surcharge for accidents and driving violations. In order to maintain the lowest possible rates for the best drivers in the Signature Auto program, we are further restricting new customer eligibility. Existing policies will not be affected by this change in eligibility guidelines. Please see below for the revised eligibility.

Signature Auto Claim and Violation Eligibility for New Business

*Policies with one glass claim that exceeds $1,000 may be eligible for Signature. Contact your underwriter to discuss eligibility.

Select Auto guidelines are not changing and policies with losses may still be eligible in that program. Additional information about eligibility criteria is available in The Advisor.

Auto Rate Change

Effective September 3, 2024, auto rates will increase in our Penalty-Free, Select Auto, and Signature Auto programs. The exact impact of rate increases will vary by program and the specific characteristics of the insured exposure.

We understand premium increases can be a hardship for our policyholders, but there are options to mitigate these increases. Policyholders can reduce their premium by increasing deductibles, and we’ve made this even more appealing by deepening the discount on our higher deductible options. As an example: premium could be offset by as much as 15% when increasing a $500 deductible for physical damage coverages to a $1,000 deductible.

Insurance Identification Cards

We have made changes to our Select Auto and Signature Auto identification cards (ID cards). You will see the new ID cards on policies with effective dates of September 17, 2024, and later. Here’s what’s new:

Improved delivery: Insurance ID cards will no longer be mailed separately. They will be sent with the policy packet.

Enhanced appearance: The new ID cards have a more intuitive layout making the information policyholders need most frequently more apparent.

An example of the new identification card is available here.

Please contact your Personal Lines Underwriter or your Regional Agency Manager, with any questions.

Thank you for your continued partnership!
