Western National Home and Auto Changes
Western National is making the following changes to our Home and Auto programs. Details on these changes follow below.
- Effective September 8, 2024, we are modifying the minimum Wind / Hail deductible for new Home business.
- Effective September 1, 2024, we are revising our new business eligibility guidelines for the Signature Auto program.
- Effective September 17, 2024, we are introducing improved insurance identification cards for Select Auto and Signature Auto policies.
Home Deductible Change
Starting September 8, 2024, the minimum Wind / Hail deductible available for new business is 1% of the Coverage A – Dwelling limit for Homeowners Form 3 and 5 policies. A 1% Wind / Hail deductible means that if hail damages the roof of a home issued with a $300,000 Coverage A - Dwelling limit, the deductible will be $3,000, regardless of the cost to repair or replace the roof.
This change applies to Select Home and Signature Home new business only. Quotes created prior to September 8 will be honored until October 13, 2024.
New Business Eligibility Change for Signature Auto
Effective September 1, 2024, new business eligibility for Signature Auto includes new restrictions on accidents or claims. The Signature Auto program includes our Penalty-Free Promise. That means that we never surcharge for accidents and driving violations. In order to maintain the lowest possible rates for the best drivers in the Signature Auto program, we are further restricting new customer eligibility. Existing policies will not be affected by this change in eligibility guidelines. Please see below for the revised eligibility.
Signature Auto Claim and Violation Eligibility for New Business
- No moving violations or at-fault accidents in three years
- No more than one claim or accident that does not exceed $1,000 in three years*
- No major violations in five years
*Policies with one glass claim that exceeds $1,000 may be eligible for Signature. Contact your underwriter to discuss eligibility.
Select Auto guidelines are not changing and policies with losses may still be eligible in that program. Additional information about eligibility criteria is available in The Advisor.
Insurance Identification Cards
We have made changes to our Select Auto and Signature Auto identification cards (ID cards). You will see the new ID cards on policies with effective dates of September 17, 2024, and later. Here’s what’s new:
Improved delivery: Insurance ID cards will no longer be mailed separately. They will be sent with the policy packet.
Enhanced appearance: The new ID cards have a more intuitive layout making the information policyholders need most frequently more apparent.
An example of the new identification card is available here.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to your Personal Lines Underwriter or your Regional Agency Manager, with any questions.
