2025 Scholarship Winners

We’re happy to announce that our Scholarship Committee selected the following eight applicants to receive merit-based college scholarships worth $3,000 each for the fall term: Abigail Childs (Bloomington, Minn.), Audrey Hackett (Foley, Minn.), Ava Joos (Chanhassen, Minn.), Bella Nawrocki (Fridley, Minn.), Emma Settem (Somerset, Wis.), McKenna Simmons (Edina, Minn.), Logan Souders (Gold Hill, Ore.), and Adalynn Sweeney (Rochester, Minn.). Emerging Leaders

Western National Insurance Group proudly celebrates the successful completion of our inaugural Elevate – Emerging Leader Program. Over the course of 10 months, participants from across our Group engaged in a comprehensive professional development experience that combined in-person and virtual workshops. They also completed a hands-on leadership project designed to build skills in accountability, approachability, coaching, communication, decision-making, and empathy, contributing to their growth as effective leaders and to the overall success of the organization.

First Aid and CPR / AED Training at the Seattle and Twin Cities Offices

Recently, over 30 employees in our Seattle and Twin Cities offices attended a first aid and CPR / AED certification class. We’re proud to have a large group of employees certified and part of the team of first responders in the office dedicated to keeping everyone safe.

Volunteer events / charitable giving

  • Bridging Dresser Build Volunteer Event – On Tuesday, October 28, 16 Western National volunteers headed to the warehouse of local non-profit and long time Western National partner, Bridging, for a dresser build event. Working together, they built 15 dressers, had a great afternoon.
  • Hot Cider Hustle Charitable Run Event – Recently, we had team members from Lansing and the Twin Cities participate in Hot Cider Hustle run / walk events, which benefits the Special Olympics of Minnesota and Michigan, respectively. Both teams enjoyed their course and celebrated at the finish line with delicious treats.
  • MPRB Fall Gardening Volunteer Event – On Wednesday, October 8, five Western National employees spent the afternoon volunteering with the Minneapolis Parks and Recreation Board (MPRB). The group was tasked with planting 250 tulip bulbs, mulching, and cleaning up the gardens at Park Siding Park.
  • American Red Cross – Sound the Alarm Volunteer Event – On Tuesday, October 7, Western National employees teamed up with other local volunteers for the American Red Cross' nationwide Sound the Alarm Campaign. Western National was proud to sponsor this event, and volunteers enjoyed the afternoon installing free battery-operated smoke alarms in homes across the Minneapolis area.
  • Habitat for Humanity Volunteer Event – In September, members of the IT Quality and Automation Team in the Twin Cities office volunteered with The Food Group. The six Western National volunteers helped pack 700 pounds of meat and 125 pounds of rice, totaling 5,938 meals that will be delivered to those in need.It was a rewarding experience filled with teamwork, learning, and sunshine—and a wonderful example of how we can make a lasting difference when we work together.
  • Employee Appreciation Events

  • In July, our Madison Team took time away from the office to attend a Madison Night Mares softball game. The team had a great time watching a great game in the company of great co-workers.
  • In July, our Twin Cities office held its annual Employee Appreciation Picnic. We were grateful for the opportunity to celebrate all the great work our employees do on a daily basis.

    Year-to-Date June Results

    Through September 30, 2025, written premium for our Group is at $1,070,841 million. Our loss ratio is 49.7% (vs. goal of 51.7%), our loss adjustment expense ratio is 9.3% (vs. goal of 9.5% ), and our underwriting expense ratio is 33.3% (vs. goal of 33.7% ) – adding up to a combined ratio of 92.3%. We are incredibly pleased with these positive numbers, and we look forward to carrying this positive momentum through the last quarter of the year and into 2026.
