Reopening of New Home & Dwelling Business in Minnesota

We are pleased to share that we are now open to quoting new Home and Dwelling business that is packaged with a personal auto policy in Minnesota with an effective date of October 1 or later.

When we last communicated about our pause in Minnesota, we noted that we were closely monitoring several key factors in support of long-term sustainability for our personal lines programs. We are encouraged by recent progress in those areas — including successful conversions to our Select and Signature products alongside rate adjustments, a stable level of competition in the marketplace, and increased policyholder acceptance of shared risk — and we are now in a position to move forward with reopening new Home and Dwelling business.

We recognize that the past few years have presented challenges in the Minnesota personal lines market, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and support as we navigate the headwinds facing our industry. Western National remains committed to providing excellent service to our policyholders and to maintaining strong, long-term partnerships with our independent agency partners.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support in the service of our mutual policyholders.

Anti-Theft Verification No Longer Required for Hyundai and Kia Vehicles

We are pleased to announce that, effective immediately, Western National will no longer require verification of the anti-theft software upgrade for Hyundai and Kia vehicles. This change reflects the widespread implementation of manufacturer-installed anti-theft software, which has significantly reduced the risk of theft.

While these software upgrades reflect progress, vehicle theft remains a concern in many areas.

Additional information from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) about the anti-theft software upgrade is available here. Vehicle-specific information is available by inputting the VIN at one of the links below:

If you have any questions about this eligibility change, please contact your Regional Agency Manager. Thank you for your continued partnership.

This update will give you a clearer view of how changes impact the overall policy premium.

Additionally, both the full-term and pro-rated premiums will appear on the policy declarations page and the change summary documents.

Please note, this update only applies to our personal lines products: Auto, Dwelling, Home, Road & Trail, Umbrella, and Watercraft.

New Features Now Available in ProducerEngage

Western National recently launched our new agency system, ProducerEngage, and we are continuously evaluating and improving the system. We are excited to share that the following new features are now available in ProducerEngage, which are designed to enhance your experience and improve quote turnaround time.

Application Upload – This new feature allows you to upload your customer’s commercial ACORD applications into ProducerEngage where the policyholder information will be populated into the system. More details are available in this training video.

Commercial Auto Schedule Upload – This new feature allows you to upload an Excel spreadsheet with your customer’s auto fleet information into ProducerEngage where it will be automatically populated for ease of quoting. Please note that this feature requires the use of a specific Excel template that is available to download from ProducerEngage. More details are available in this training video.

Loss Runs Upload – This new feature allows you to upload competitor loss runs into ProducerEngage. More details are available in this training video.

Online Agency Bill Payments – This new feature allows your agency’s accounting contact that is recorded in our system to pay the agency bill statement online. Please note that this is only applicable for Guidewire policies issued in our new system. All legacy policy invoices will still require a check payment. More details are available in this training document.

Quote Proposal – This new feature allows you to present and send a comprehensive Western National quote that combines all lines of business for your customer. This includes a summary page, along with a detailed quote for each line of business that you select. More details are available in this training video.

We’re confident these enhancements will significantly improve your experience working with Western National, and we look forward to sharing more enhancements in the future.
