Earlier this summer, Western National was named one of the Top 200 Workplaces in Minnesota based on an employee survey project from the Star Tribune. Top Workplaces recognizes the most progressive companies in Minnesota based on employee opinions measuring engagement, organizational health, and satisfaction. This is the fourth year in a row that Western National has been recognized.
Green Business Award
We’re proud to share that our Edina office’s gold-level Green Business designation was renewed by the City of Edina. This renewal reaffirms our commitment to maintaining a sustainable, green workplace that supports our mission to serve our customers.
Businesses in Edina can earn Green Business designations at gold, silver, or bronze levels by taking green actions in day-to-day operations in areas including solid waste, recycling, purchasing, energy use, water conservation, and more.
Internship Program
The Western National Internship Program is designed to offer valuable, hands-on technical experience in specific areas of interest to interns, while also providing the necessary tools and resources to facilitate a smooth transition into their chosen career. This summer, we had 15 interns spread across seven different departments in our Edina and Seattle offices.
Trainee Program
Western National offers two trainee programs that take place at our home office in Edina, Minnesota, an Underwriting Associate Trainee Program and a Claims Representative Trainee Program. Underwriting Trainees learn how to assess risks, determine policy terms, and develop pricing strategies, all while being mentored by our experienced underwriters. Claims Trainees are introduced to investigating claims, evaluating policy coverage, and negotiating settlements, under the guidance of our seasoned claims professionals.
Specialty Insurance Solutions Turns 10
On August 1, the Specialty Insurance Solutions Team celebrated its tenth year serving specialty customers across the U.S. Special thanks to the team for their incredible hard work and dedication. We look forward to their continued success!
Employee Picnic Recap
In August, our employees gathered at our Edina office for our annual Employee Picnic. Everyone enjoyed the live band, prizes, massages, cornhole, ping pong, desserts, and a delicious lunch catered by Old Southern BBQ. The afternoon was filled with fun, laughter, and great conversations. A wonderful time was had by all.
